This project was based on possibly entering Picture This, a children's book illustration competition. The competition was to choose a piece of text, a story or create your own and create 3 images that tell the chosen story. It can be about anything so i chose to illustrate mine based on a Japanese folklore about weasels.

The Overview Of The Folklore

In the collection of depictions, the Gazu Hyakki Yagyō by Sekien Toriyama, they were depicted under the title 鼬, but they were read not as "itachi", but rather as "ten", and "ten" were considered to be weasels that have reached one hundred years of age and became yōkai that possessed supernatural powers. Another theory is that when weasels reach several hundred years of age, they become mujina (badger).

The 1st three watercolour images are the finals for my interpretation of the folklore.
